The Smith:
Floating the Smith River is one of Montana’s most sought-after adventures, and for good reason. The 59-mile stretch winds through a remote limestone canyon where towering cliffs, cottonwood bottoms, and pristine trout water create a truly wild experience. With permits limited and access tightly managed, time on the Smith feels like stepping back into a world where nature takes center stage. Days are spent casting to rising trout, spotting wildlife along the banks, and soaking in the stunning scenery, while evenings around camp bring camaraderie and a sense of solitude few places can match.
