Lititz Run on the Wetlands Farm property had dramatically left its historic channel.
With an EPA 319 Grant, DTU was able to partner with the Lancaster Conservation District and remove 9,000 yards of legacy soil and restore the stream to its former channel meandering across the meadow.
Reseeding grasses, and finally planting shrubs and trees with CREP funds, provided a riparian buffer area.
Subsequently this section of the stream would provide an ideal area to try an experiment re-establishing a wild trout population in the Run.
